Origin | Europe |
The European White Elm Ulmus laevis Pall. cultivar 'Aureovariegata' (also 'Aureo-variegata'[1]) was mentioned by Schelle in Beissner[2] et al. Handbuch der Laubholzbenennung page 84, as U. effusa (: laevis) f. aureovariegata, but without description.[1]
Henry briefly described the tree as having "leaves spotted with yellow".[3]
Probably extinct; 'Aureovariegata' was never grown in the United Kingdom.
